Puzzmo and PerDiem come at daily puzzles from the same side. Neither is a newspaper. Both are small libraries of games you play in a browser, with a new puzzle each day. They pick different games, though, and the overlap is smaller than you'd guess.
PerDiem Games isn't affiliated with Puzzmo. What we say about Puzzmo comes from its public listings and press coverage as of October 2026. The roster and the subscription terms have changed more than once, so check puzzmo.com for what's current.
Where they overlap
Crosswords. Puzzmo's Cross|word offers an optional easier hint on each clue. PerDiem has Mini, a 5 by 5 crossword, and Midi, a themeless grid that grows from 9 by 9 on Monday to 11 by 11 on Friday and Saturday. Ours are free with no account. If you like an easier hint on a stuck clue, that's Puzzmo's feature, not ours.
Card puzzles. Puzzmo's Pile-Up Poker has you add cards one at a time to a grid to build poker hands in rows and columns. Stacks is a different card idea. You drag through touching cards that share a suit or a rank, score the stack, and do it six times, with three modifiers each day that change what scores best. Delve is a dungeon crawl built on Scoundrel by Zach Gage and Kurt Bieg: four cards in a room, you take three, and your weapons wear down as you use them. If you like thinking about a deck, you'd probably like both libraries.
Word games with a twist. Puzzmo's SpellTower and Typeshift change the board as you play. Throughline is a themed word search on a 6 by 8 grid where every letter is used once and a key word runs across the whole board. Association is a 16-word grouping puzzle.
What PerDiem has that Puzzmo doesn't list
These are the games we'd put in front of a Puzzmo player.
Packline is a gerrymandering puzzle: orange and purple voters, block-shaped districts, and a target for how many each side must win. The fewer-voters-can-win trick is the whole game. Guide.
Hearsay is a liar puzzle. Everyone is honest or a liar and each makes one statement. A rule at the top is always true, and every case is solvable by reasoning alone. Guide.
Scope gives you unlabeled knobs and switches and a target wave. The controls change meaning from day to day, so you learn the machine by touching it. Guide.
Ticker is a 90-second trading day on one fictional stock, with play money. Guide.
Add Switchboard, Seams, Canals and Glide, and PerDiem leans toward spatial and logic puzzles you solve by planning ahead.
What Puzzmo has that we don't
Bongo, where you build a 25-tile board around a theme picked by a guest. Really Bad Chess, with a different piece set every day. Memoku and Cube Clear. We don't have a chess game or a game built around guest curators, and if that appeals to you, Puzzmo is the place.
So which one?
Play both. Puzzmo has the guest-built boards and the chess. PerDiem has the odd one-idea puzzles, and every game is free with no account. If you want a short list to try today, start with Packline, Hearsay and Scope.
